Socialising Lesson Plan

Here is the outline of the lesson plan as well as the framework for the worksheets and additional material for the activities contained within the lesson.  The outline comes first and then the other material.

I.                Working one-on-one with host students and visiting students, the visiting students write down how the questions sound to them in their own phonetic symbols as the host student asks the questions.  The visiting student then practices saying them while the host student gives feedback.

The students should learn a dozen questions split into two groups of six.  It would be a good idea to switch partners when they start to go through the additional six questions.  Here are the questions we came up with.  Feel free to change where necessary to compensate for cultural differences.

What is your name?

How are you doing?

How many family members do you have?

What do you do in your free time?

What is your favourite food?

Where do you come from?

What kind of music do you like?

What part of the hotel do you like to work in?

How old are you?

How long are you staying here?

What is your favourite sport?

What type of movies do you like?

II.  Aft

After  students have practiced articulating the questions, they will then receive a worksheet where they match the questions with possible answers.  In order to help them understand possible answers, the answers should be written in both English as well as the host nation’s first language.

III.            The third part of lesson, as time allows, gives the students a possiblity to practice the questions in a social simulation/game.  Host students are given a sheet of paper with varying information (these are prepared in advance) which the visiting students are seeking in order to fill in their “bingo” cards (also filled in beforehand).  The answers, which the visiting student is seeking, are already printed on the “bingo” card.  The goal of the simulation is to have the visiting students repeat the questions numerous times while interacting with a group of people.  In order to win the game, a visiting student needs to have a host student’s signature/initials in half of the boxes.  The simulation can easily be repeated by exchanging both the host students’ information sheets and the visiting students’ “bingo” cards.

Lesson Plan

Socializzare

Ecco 12 domande tipo.

Come ti chiami?

Come stai?

Quante persone ci sono nella tua famiglia?

Che fai nel tempo libero?

Qual č il tuo cibo preferito?

Da dove vieni?

Che musica ti piace?

In che reparto dell’hotel ti piace lavorare?

Quanti anni hai?

Quanto tempo stai qui?

Qual č il tuo sport preferito?

Che film ti piacciono?

II.

Adın ne?

How are you doing? İşler nasıl gidiyor?

How many family members do you have? Ailende kaç kişi var?

What do you do in your free time? Boş zamanlarında ne yaparsın?

What is your favourite food? En sevdiğin yiyecek hangisi?

Where do you come from? Nereden geldin?

What kind of music do you like? Ne tür müzikten hoşlanırsın?

What part of the hotel do you like to work in? Otelin hangi bölümünde çalışmak istersin?

How old are you? Kaç yaşındasın?

How long are you staying here?  Burada ne kadar kalacaksın?

What is your favourite sport? En sevdiğin spor dalı hangisi?

What type of movies do you like? Ne tür filmlerden hoşlanırsın?

II.
